The "not-so-new" Federal Child Support Tables

Although the Federal Child Support Guidelines were amended over 3 months ago, I failed to recognize that if you were not dealing with Child Support issues earlier in the year, this bit of information may have passed you by.

The new Federal Child Support Tables that determine the child support amounts to be paid came into effect as of December 31, 2011. These are, of course, the infamous Tables which set out the amount of money that one parent must pay to the other parent for the support of any Children of the Marriage.
Prior to December 31, 2011, divorce professionals and parents alike referred to the 2006 Federal Tables; however, all support due as of January 1, 2012 must be based on the 2011 Federal Tables.

Although the formula for calculating support has remained unaltered, the Table amount has increased for some income levels, and decreased for other levels of income.

If you require assistance in recalculating your new Federal Table amount or to vary Court Ordered Child Support amounts, please contact me.
